Jane Ogren

Jane Ogren Jane is a native Pennsylvanian. She has lived the last fifty plus years in the Pittsburgh area. Jane graduated from Edinboro University of PA with a B.S. in art education and a M.Ed. from Indiana University of PA. As an educator, Jane taught drawing, ceramics, jewelry, fiber, sculpture, and Advanced Placement Art studio in local school districts. 

Currently, Jane has been concentrating her artwork in fiber, mixed media and cold wax medium (CWM). Her work has been shown locally, nationally and internationally. Locally, Jane's artwork has been exhibited at the Andy Warhol Museum, the Carnegie Museum of Art, SAMA at Ligonier Valley, the Erie Museum of Art, the State Museum of Pennsylvania, the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, the Lancaster Museum of Art, the Hoyt Institute of Fine Art, the Society of Contemporary Craft, the Merrick Museum and Art Gallery and the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. Her artwork has also been included in gallery exhibits in 19 different states. Internationally her fiber art has been shown in Sydney and Brisbane, Australia; Birmingham, England; Kherson, Ukraine; and in Xalapa, Mexico. Jane's artwork has been shown in the book 1000 Artisan Textiles and the book PatternBase. She has also been featured in the Surface Design Journal, (Gallery Issue) and Fiber Art Now Magazine (Sojourn) curated by Marcia Young.

Jane continues to enjoy creating her art work and volunteering in the art community. She is a past president of the Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh and has served as a board member on many occasions. She is a member and past board member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh Group and the Pittsburgh 10+. Previously she was the Northeast representative for the Surface Design Association. Jane is also an honorary member of the World Textile Art Organization. 

Jane enjoys the evolution of her work as she problem solves through the entire process deciding on color, texture and design. Remembering where she has been and then looking forward to exploring new ideas keeps her work ever evolving.
