Jill Whittaker

Jill Whittaker holds an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, and a BA from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. An independent designer and metalsmith, Jill has exhibited both locally and nationally. She is a member of Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, the Craftsman's Guild of Pittsburgh and The Pittsburgh Group. Her work is found in public and private collections. 

Jill has exhibited in are The Pittsburgh Brew House, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, Laurel Arts Center, Carnegie Museum of Art, Indiana University of PA Museum, Monroeville Public Library, Seton Hill College, Slippery Rock University, Blair Art Museum, Butler Institute of American Art (OH), University of Pittsburgh Art Gallery, Three Rivers Arts Festival, Carnegie Mellon University. Notre Dame University (IN) and Cranbrook Academy of Art Museum (MI).

Jill remarks "I find it difficult to pinpoint exactly what I'm saying with my artwork. I just know that if I wasn't making something, I would go nuts. I think the process has become very important to me. Constantly trying new techniques, learning new methods, increasing my artistic vocabulary. I prefer to avoid political themes and I don't think about feminist issues. I do think about the journey we are all on, the paths chosen and not chosen, the transitions that occur, and the Quest for whatever we are looking for."
