Marina Mozhayeva

Marina became a full-time artist in 2005 after she resigned from UT South-Western Medical Center in Dallas where she worked as a PhD researcher in biology. Before that she did her art in her free-time for many years. In her childhood and youth, Marina was fortunate to study under Solomon Levin who was as well- known art teacher/artist in St. Petersburg (Russia). She has lived in the US since 1998. In 2007 she became a member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh and started to show her works in local galleries and as well at exhibitions in the United States (Pittsburgh, New York, San Francisco) and also internationally (Spain and Russia). Her works are in collections around the world.

"My art reflects my perception of the surrounding world. I work outside and in my studio, using my sketches and photos as a starting point. I believe that colors can create a special language which does not need words. It is the language of unconscious perception of reality which evokes our memories and feelings." 

Marina works in different media: acrylic, acrylic-gouache painting, oil pastel, watercolor, collage, monotype and mixed media. Every medium, at some time, is her absolute favorite and she loves to explore how far she can go with it. Marina enjoys spending time visiting her daughter in Paris and traveling throughout Europe.
